Heat Stroke: These are The Symptoms and Here is How to Treat it

Sunstroke is a medical condition that occurs in people who overexpose their head to sun, and their organism adjusts in order to cool the particular overheated part of the body.

In this situation the body is encouraged to send “cold” blood from other parts to relieve the overheating, which causes additional unpleasand, and sometimes extremely dangerous consequences.

If the overheating lasts for longer, cold blood will keep flowing, and eventually both veins and brain will swell.

The symptoms of this condition resemble concussion.

Severe cases of sunstroke may cause unconsciousness, and in extreme cases, coma or death, so it is essential to act immediately.

The most common symptoms of sunstroke are:

  • dry skin
  • facial redness
  • fever
  • puzzlement
  • headache and dizziness
  • sensitivity to light
  • nausea

If you experience sunstroke, go to your doctor. If you are unable to do so, call your doctor or seek for help in the first ambulance on your way.

If you cannot get any medical help, use simple home treatments like cooling your body in cold water and drinking cold drinks. Decrease your body temperature and drink more water or tea to provide your body the fluids it has lost.

These tips will help you in cases of thermal weakness (fatigue) which is a result of fluid loss, mostly water and salt from the body. Sweating is the most common culprit.

Here are the most common symptoms of heat weakness:

  • heavy sweating (sticky, pale and clammy skin)
  • appetite loss
  • puzzlement
  • vomiting
  • nausea
  • fever
  • dizziness and headache
  • crams in limbs and abdomen
  • rapid breathing
  • irregular heartbeat
  • loss of consciousness

In more severe cases of heat stroke, the body goes through a shock and the temperature increases over 40 degrees Celsius. This condition is also followed by symptoms like nausea, comiting, rapid pulse, and severe headaches.

In cases of sunstroke, heat weakness, and heat stroke, the most important thing is to seek shelter in the nearest shade, and later apply some of the most common tips on how to cool your body and compensate lost fluids.

In this article we give you some useful traditional tips on how to recover quickly and effectively after overexposure to sun. Baths, showers, and compresses to lower body temperature. Fill your bathtub with cool water and soak in for 5-10 minutes.

Cool baths will lower your body temperature quickly, and if you do not have a bathtub, cool showers will also do the trick. You can also use wet compresses or wrap a wet sheet around you and spray water over it.

If cold water gives you chills, use lukewarm water instead, and make sure its temperature does not exceed 30 degrees Celsius.

If you are in a hospital, your doctor can give you a muscle relaxant, which will curb your tremors.

Doctors also use a so-called evaporator, during which treatment the patient’s skin is sprayed with cool water and then it is dried with warm air. Warm air makes the water evaporate from skin’s surface and cools the body quickly, while returning its temperature balance.

Cooling fruits and veggies

Chili peppers reduce fever and relieve headache caused by overecposure to sun. Stir half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper into a cup of boiling water. Add a tablespoon of the liquid in a glass of water.

Drink the liquid in small sips. Cayenne pepper solution will relieve your condition.

Eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, especially produce high in water like watermelon, lemons, oranges and cucumbers.

Increase your protein intake, and eat more walnuts, legumes and olive oil.

Add more buttermilk to your diet. It is a cooling product that is beneficial to your overall health.

Avoid foods high in salt, because excess salt interferes with sweating.

Essential oils enhance recovery after sunstroke symptoms are slightly relieved.

Lavender essential oil is the most effective oil in the treatment of sunstroke. Dilute it with some base oil such as almond, sesame and jojoba oil.

Rub some of the oil on your hands, feet and chest. Alternately, combine lavender essential oil and aloe vera.

Use the cooling effect of this combination and apply it on the aforementioned spots -- hands, feet and chest.

Rosemary and basil essential oils can also do the trick. Make sure you combine them with some base oil before any application.

Homemade raw garlic oil

Homemade raw garlic oil can also help you relieve sunstroke symptoms. Juice two large garlic bulbs and rub the oil on your hands and feet.

Take one dose every 15 minutes until your condition improves.

If your body does not respond to the remedy, use Belladonna 30 instead.

The patient should take a dose every 15 minutes.
